ERASER MEN GO BALD WITH USE
Is
stress at work causing you to lose a little hair? Well, you are not
alone, and one Japanese artist has captured this all-too-common
problem in a humorous manner,
Kazuya Ishikawa has designed a playful eraser that initially appears as a human worker with a full head of hair, but when the eraser is used and rubbed on paper, the man begins to go bald as the coloring on top of his head is gradually worn away.
The balding eraser design is called “Salaryman” and could be seen as a sort of social commentary on the unhealthy work culture of office workers.
The eraser resembles a typical office worker, wearing a brown suit and tie. He definitely has a worried expression on his face, which makes sense once you use him.
The more mistakes you make, the more hair he will lose. Baldness may occur on the front or back of the head, depending on usage, but eventually, all his hair will be lost.
Ishikawa has created another character with the same idea, but this time, the man wears a monk's costume and appears to be more serene about his fate.
The concept behind these balding erasers is actually very similar to that of the balding memo pad idea that was around a few years ago.
The more memos you use, the balder the pad’s character becomes, although he does retain a bit more dignity than the erasers since you can never completely remove all his hair.
Losing your hair is no laughing matter, as a rule, but these whimsical desk items may show that even the worst problems can have a funny side.
